The Celestial Saga: An 11th Level Adventure for 5th Edition
The island nation of Kirishima lies shrouded in mist and closed off to the outside world. Its people follow codes of honor, and loyalty to one’s family and clan is paramount. Powerful feudal lords rule the countryside, their warriors protecting the people from all manner of monsters and demons that roam the shadows. In recent years, the island’s lords discovered that explorers and traders from the mainland were willing to pay exorbitant sums of gold for goods crafted in the island’s style. Eventually, a port town known as Arashimura was built on the southern peninsula to allow foreigners to visit and partake in trade. The island’s artisans flocked to it to present their beautiful wares to awestruck travelers, and slowly, foreigners became more and more accepted among the locals. One such craftsman looking to make a name for himself was a young boy named Hotaru.
Gifted with a nearly divine understanding of metallurgy, the boy’s weapons and armor surpassed even the island’s known masters. Whatever he put his hammer to became an instrument of perfection. Jealous of his skills and fearful of losing their standing with the foreigners, Hotaru’s rivals destroyed his forge and sold off his tools. Now the boy seeks aid in rebuilding his life and proving to everyone that he won’t be stopped. If he can find brave souls willing to assist him, he promises to craft for them a weapon of untold power, strong enough to kill even a god. Such a promise is fortuitous as, unbeknownst to the island’s residents, the deity they attribute to their creation is soon to return, though it is not as benevolent as they believe.
Aketatu the Sky Lord is coming. When it arrives, its rebirth into the world will herald nothing but destruction. It is a creation deity, and in order to create a world of beauty, it must first raze this world to ashes. It will take a daring group of skilled adventurers to drive the Sky Lord back to the Ethereal Realm and save the world from being unmade.
