The Hellfire Chronicles: A 7th Level Adventure for 5th Edition
Long ago, the horned devil Dagonnauch came to the mortal realm seeking entertainment. He tired of the lower planes and sought something new. He took on the mortal form of a tiefling named Zherrut and began to explore what Arden had to offer. Over time, he experienced a plethora of sensations: pain, pleasure, even fear. Eventually, he came to call this plane home, forsaking the lower planes in favor of this new exciting one. Unable to control his devilish nature, however, Zherrut eventually rose through the ranks of the underworld until he held the rank of crime boss in the port city of Lustra. There, he enacted infernal contracts with unwitting mortals, trading favors and dark gifts in exchange for souls he could sell back to his former colleagues.
One such unfortunate soul was a man named Jerrek. Jerrek's wife Claudia had been terminally ill and Jerrek sought the help of Zherrut to cure her. In exchange for Jerrek's soul, Zherrut provided him with a vial containing a panacea for his wife's ailment. Once she'd been cured, Jerrek told her of the deal he had made. She was horrified by what he'd done and begged him to find a way to undo it, even if it meant her life was forfeit. Reluctantly, at his wife's behest, Jerrek has sought out a group of adventurers to infiltrate Zherrut's hideout and recover his soul contract so he can destroy it.
