The Sands of Fate: An 11th Level Adventure for 5th Edition
Far across the not-so-endless seas lie exotic lands. Lush jungles hide the remains of empires that fell ages ago, and vast deserts whose dunes seem to ebb and flow like water. One of the more prosperous of the desert kingdoms is the city-state of Zahrakahn. Situated on the banks of the Denar River, it is the only city for hundreds of miles that has easy access to the sea via a waterway. As such, virtually all trade in the region passes through it, and a portion of the profits find their way into the sultan's vaults. To help manage the complex trade agreements, the sultan employs a vizier named Aeshar. A skilled negotiator, Aeshar always makes sure the kingdom is paid its due.
But recently, the sultan has fallen ill. He hasn't been seen in public for months, and Aeshar has assumed control of the city in his absence. In that time, the city has become a darker, more violent place. Screams can be heard in the night, and citizens are going missing. All pleas to the palace have gone unanswered, and unless someone intervenes, the fate of the city and those within it looks grim.
